Comparative analysis of psychosocial characteristics of Assertive Community Therapy model participants and patients receiving care in a medical institution only

Abstract

In a cross-sectional retrospective study aimed at the comparison of the psychosocial characteristics of participants in the Assertive Community Therapy program and patients receiving care within the walls of a medical institution only, such indicators as social frustratedness (LSF-1), quality of life (SF-36), attitude towards taking medications (DAI-30) were evaluated. 40 out of 80 patients of the outpatient psychiatric service took part in the program, the control group being formed from 40 patients with similar clinical and socio-demographic characteristics. The main group showed lower level of social frustratedness (2.4 vs 3.4, p<0.001). The participants of the program were more open to taking medications (20 vs 12, p<0.001), allowed a better assessment of social and role functioning (56.3 vs 37.5; 50 vs 0, p<0.001).
