In order to study the current state of medical and social care for seniors and the very old, including people with mental and comorbid disorders, this scientific review reflects the directions, features and problems of providing this type of care in foreign countries. The analysis of foreign literary sources was carried out using electronic information resources Ovid Medline, Scopus, Freedom Collection, Health Policy Reference Center, The Cochrane Library, and PubMed. The review of the literature showed that an important aspect in the organization of medical and social services, based on the needs of the population of older age groups, is the preservation of the autonomy skills of the elderly, the formation of an optimal living environment in the usual favorable conditions at the place of residence, with the provision of medical, social, psychological assistance, rehabilitation and habilitation activities.
