In this single-stage original study, in order to identify the clinical features of late-age depression, to determine the signs of their unfavorable course, a continuous clinical examination was conducted of 61 patients over 55 years old (between 55 and 87 years of age, the average age was 68±6.2 years) with depression that first occurred at a late age (after 50 years) (F06.3, F32, F33 according to ICD-10). Based on a specially designed questionnaire, clinical and social factors that are signs of their unfavorable prognosis were identified. The features of the unfavorable course of late depression were recurrence, therapeutic resistance and incomplete remissions. The disease was accompanied by a decrease in social adaptation and a narrowing of the range of interests of the elderly.
