Abstract

In this original study, 344 people, including 257 specialists in dangerous professions, were examined in order to determine the characteristics of adaptation in stressful situations. An experimental procedure was carried out with alternating stress-induced and neutral stages. Based on the spectral structure of the heart rate, 3 adaptive profiles have been identified. The first reflects a high level of adaptation with a high influence of the parasympathetic branch of the autonomic nervous system on the regulation of heart rhythm. The second profile reflects a low level of adaptation, in which the tension of physiological systems is combined with a deficiency of parasympathetic influence. The third profile with an average level of adaptation reflects the intensity of adaptation mechanisms and a moderate influence from the parasympathetic branch. The interrelationships of physiological indicators and individual psychological characteristics are considered within the groups.
