In this one-time retrospective study, 70 subjects were examined in order to analyze the structural features of the motivational-semantic system of persons with personality disorder as an indicator of potential ability to comprehend and regulate their own behavior. The structural composition of the elements of the value-semantic system, the degree of consistency between them and the emotional sphere were studied in comparison with mentally healthy people who committed aggressive offenses and those who did not. The leading motivational aspirations, as well as the relationship of emotional profiles with the components of aggressiveness, have been identified. It has been shown that in personality disorder, the individuality system has insufficient hierarchy and low differentiation of leading motivational aspirations, which indicates a deficiency in the regulatory influences of semantic attitudes on target ones and can lead to impairment of the ability to voluntarily regulate one’s behavior in a criminal situation.
