The aim of this pilot experimental study involving 365 combatants with neurotic, stress-related and somatoform disorders (F40–F49) was to investigate the relationship between psychological personality type and the response of 24 physiological parameters to 5 mg of diazepam. The initial physiological profiles specific to the studied personality psychotypes are described and their differences are analyzed. A rank-order procedure was applied to personality types according to the direction and magnitude of the effect of a single low dose of diazepam on physiological parameters. Complexes of physiological parameters specific to each psychotype that significantly respond to 5 mg of diazepam were determined. It seems appropriate to further study the psychotypologically oriented approach to the prevention and treatment of marginal mental disorders in combatants in order to improve their psychological and physiological adaptation.
