In this observational descriptive study aimed at investigating clinical and psychopathological features and personality traits in different mechanisms of committing socially dangerous acts in persons with schizophrenia, 83 men undergoing inpatient compulsory treatment were examined. Three groups were formed on the basis of the leading symptomatology: Group 1 – patients with predominance of productive psychotic symptoms that directly determined the motivation for unlawful actions (36.47%); Group 2 – patients with productive psychotic symptoms that did not influence the formation of motivation for committing socially dangerous actions (29.41%); Group 3 – patients with predominance of negative symptoms (31.76%). Intergroup differences in personality characteristics (negative affectivity, detachment, disinhibition, borderline pattern) and peculiarities of cognitive and emotional regulation were revealed. The role of premorbid traits and procedural changes of personality in the formation of unlawful behaviour was noted. The obtained results underline the importance of complex consideration of clinical manifestations, personality dispositions and cognitive functions when assessing the risk of socially dangerous behaviour. The presented data are preliminary and require further clarification using psychometric techniques and experimental psychological research.
