Abstract

We apply M-CHAT (Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers) screening tool to detect autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in children (n=182). The study confirms the high sensitivity and specificity of M-CHAT – 1.0 and 0.97 respectively, its low positive predictive value (0.25) and high negative predictive value (1.0), which correlates with previously published data. In addition, our study suggests a high clinical value of diagnostic tool ADOS (The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule). Based on our results we strongly recommend M-CHAT for implementation in Russian Federation in order to identify patients at risk for ASD and diagnostic tool ADOS to improve verifiability of diagnosis.
