This original descriptive study, pursuing the goal of assessing parental attitude towards children – which is the key category in forensic assessment in family court cases – we have applied the psychosemiotic approach in the course of analyzing the written and oral statements made by individuals under forensic assessment in cases dealing with the protection of children’s interests. We have analyzed such formal parameters as the plot characteristics of statements, the system of protagonists, and the presence of internal predicates related to the child. We submit the discussion of the possibility of applying this method for purposes of verifying the implicit knowledge about the presence of love, understanding, attachment and empathy via the systemic unconscious choices of formal elements and the plot models of behavior.
