Clinical and psychological characteristics of functioning disorders in epilepsy

The article discuss the results of the research of disorders of functioning patterns of epilepsy patients. It is stated that 216 patients were examined, among them - 98 men and 118 women, aged from 18 to 55 with different forms of epilepsy and with the duration of illness up to 30 years. Simple and complex partial seizures dominated in the structure of the disease. The clinical and psychological aspects of disorders of patterns of functioning in patients with epilepsy were studied. Indices of somatization, obsessive-compulsive disorder, interpersonal sensitivity, anxiety, depression, phobic manifestations, paranoid and psychoticism were analyzed with account of favorable and unfavorable types of epilepsy course. Great attention was paid to the ratio of clinical and psychological characteristics of the disease and types of epilepsy course. These results are of great interest to doctors and оther specialists dealing with treatment and rehabilitation of epilepsy patients.
