This scientific review analyzes the modern approaches to assessing the risk of committing aggressive and self-directed aggressive actions of defendants with personality disorders. We carry out the analysis of the results of the studies, conducted by foreign as well as domestic authors, on the role of mental disorders in criminal behavior. The standardized questionnaires for assessing the risk of criminal behavior, as well as the results of their use, have been analyzed by us. Scales for assessing the risk of committing criminal acts are proposed to be considered as an auxiliary tool to further the evidence-based nature of expert conclusions.
