Abstract

There is a commentary on the article Evolution of views on gender identity: a disorder or a "new" norm? by D. Watson and H. Saidle. Authors has presented in the article on "gender dysphoria", which very common in Western psychiatry, but it is rather controversial. Historical excursions, in the opinion of the authors, confirm the fact that different versions of gender identity were common in all times and civilizations, but one should not forget that this also applies to mental disorders.
