On the interrelation of mental health stigma and suicidal behavior

The article presents a review of theories and studies on stigmatization, self-stigmatization of psychiatric and suicidal patients. The data is provided on the interrelation of mental health stigma and suicidal behavior. A special focus is given to attitudes of medical workers toward patients after their suicidal attempt, and the problem of suicidal tendencies of medics and their stigmatization in medical organization is raised. The main targets and directions of work to alleviate stigma among patients, medics and in society are specified.
