This publication summarizes a part of the day-long seminar presented by members of The Royal’s Sexual Behaviours Clinic, the Division of Forensic Psychiatry of the University of Ottawa and the Integrated Forensic Program of the Royal. The current paper concerns Dr. Fedoroff’s discussion of the ways in which his team has attempted to categorize and explain unconventional and problematic sexual behaviors. Specifically, the authors suggest that the current " lovemaps" paradigm has outlived its ability to explain the data, to accurately predict new data, or to aid in effective treatment. The ideas in this paper are explained in more detail in other publications by the SBC team and from an up-coming book by Dr. Fedoroff.
