Eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa, for many years remain an important medical and social problem. Being quite common among adolescents, these diseases often come to the attention of psychiatrists expressed only at the stage of somatic disorders. In addition, patients with anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa are characterized by low compliance, as well as the high prevalence of comorbid diseases. In this connection, further study of the issues of pathogenesis, timely detection and treatment of eating disorders seem to be very relevant to modern psychiatry.
