In this scientific review, pursuing the objective of identifying the most correct designations to be used as part of medical vocabulary, we have carried out the study of the terminology, pertaining to the phenomenon of nonbinary gender-role positioning. We have analyzed the most frequently used terms and their conceptual foundations from the point of view of their semantic correspondence to the clinical reality. We point out a number of problems of the current stage of studying the gender identification disorders, including the scientifically unsubstantiated expansion of terminology, incorrect use of extant terms, a tendency to mix up the terms from natural sciences and humanities, substitution of sense, and manipulation of facts to suit the current political and cultural situation.
