Abstract

In a comparative study aimed at identifying symptoms of distress response and determining the contribution of emotional regulation to maladaptive coping strategies, 224 psychiatric specialists were examined, of which 117 persons did not work in the “red zone”, and 107 assisted patients in the “red zone”. It was revealed that the stress response profile is largely determined by the specificity of violations of emotional regulation of behavior, regardless of the severity of symptom complexes of response to distress. Specialists who worked with patients with COVID-19 showed dysfunctional anxiety and insufficient regulatory flexibility, which reflect a decrease in the ability to mobilize adaptive processes to cope with difficulties.
