Abstract

In order to analyze scientific ideas about the features of self-regulation of behavior in persons with personality disorders, a number of psychological, pathopsychological and neurophysiological concepts are considered as an attempt to identify common mechanisms of dysregulation. It is shown that from the point of view of the theory of functional systems, personality disorders are based on a dysontogenetic violation of the temporal structure of accumulated experience, primarily semantic formations responsible for self-identification – the “Self-concept” and self-awareness.

Keywords personality disorder; functional system; self-concept; temporal perspective; behavior regulation; goal formation; dysontogenesis
