Abstract

In this cross-sectional retrospective study with an objective of analyzing changes in the system of individuality during compensation and decompensation in personality disorders 45 examinees were tested. Temperamental, characterological and motivational characteristics were studied in persons with compensation and decompensation, and comparison group. It is shown that during compensation of personality disorder the system of individuality is poorly differentiated and can be characterized as insufficiently adaptable. Poor differentiation of motivational sphere remains during decompensation of personality disorder; however the rest of the individuality system can be characterized as extremely unstable with the predominant role of formal-dynamic mechanisms. The possibility of combining the dimensional and phenomenological approaches has been demonstrated.
