Abstract

In this observational cohort study, in order to identify the most significant factors affecting the formation of stable heteroaggressive behavior, the clinical, socio demographic and criminological characteristics of mentally ill people who have committed socially dangerous acts of violent nature have been studied. A high prevalence of combination of adverse factors has been established: personality disharmony; abuse and dependence on psychoactive substances; adverse exogenous influences leading to cerebral organic damage; early onset and malignant course of mental disorders; the presence of therapy-resistant behavioral and emotional disorders. The obtained results indicate the need for further search for factors contributing to heteroaggression in order to form effective strategies for preventing it.

Keywords heteroaggressive behavior; mental disorders; risk factors; clinical features; social dangerousness; prevention
