Abstract

This scientific review presents an analysis of modern methods for diagnosing individual typological features, maladaptive personality traits, their degree of severity, as well as the ability to consciously regulate behavior within the framework of forensic psychiatric practice. The review shows that there is a lack of informative diagnostic methods for assessing personality disorders; the problems of methodological and method application approaches when using psychometric methods, analyzing and interpreting data are considered. The diagnostic capabilities of various methods are analyzed in detail, their information content is assessed to determine the criminal orientation of a person. The possibilities of using the described diagnostic methods for assessing the risk of harm and the likelihood of committing aggressive acts, determining the individual psychological mechanisms for committing aggressive offences, and for solving applied problems of forensic psychiatry are substantiated.
