Abstract

In this prospective controlled study, 117 men (F60.xx–F62.xx (n=66); F20.xx (n=51)), addicted to drugs, were examined in order to study the phenomenon of aggression aimed at oneself and identifying the distinctive features of suicide and accident in people suffering from mental disorders and abusing synthetic cannabinoids (F12.2). Variants of aggression aimed at oneself, depending on the state caused by drugs have been highlighted: 1) in episodes of exacerbations (F60.xx–F62.xx (n=35); F20.xx (n=43)) caused by hallucinations (F60.xx–F62.xx (n=17), F20.xx (n=20)), delusions (F60.xx–F62.xx (n=6), F20.xx (n=8)), delirium (F60.xx–F62.xx (n=12), F20.xx (n=15)); 2) in episodes of remission (F60.xx–F62.xx (n=31); F20.xx (n=8)) due to symptoms of depression (F60.xx–F62.xx (n=26), F20.xx (n=6)), dysphoria (F60.xx–F62.xx (n=5), F20.xx (n=4)). It is concluded that drug abuse can initiate aggression aimed at oneself mainly in persons with personality disorders and, to a lesser extent, in patients with schizophrenia. Genuine suicides in drug users include exclusively episodes with depressive symptoms that differ from accidents in such features as symptoms of drug abuse, asthenic-depressive symptoms that develop within 3–4 days against the background of drug withdrawal, obsessive suicidal ideation, cumulating the growth of anxiety and sleep disorders, social isolation for 3 days, a history of suicide episodes over the past year.
