Abstract

Annotation Suicidal behavior of children and adolescents is the most dramatic aspect of suicidology. Based on records gleaned from Russian and Western European studies analyzed are the frequency of completed and attempted suicides in child and adolescent populations and its dynamics in recent decades as well as risk factors that may contribute to suicidal behaviors in this age group. Outlined is the experience of the EU member states in dealing with suicide prevention among children and adolescents. Discussed are the main avenues for resolving this medical and social problem.
