In this original study, 60 men were examined in order to study the peculiarities of visual perception of erotically significant information in pedophilic disorder. It was found that for persons with pedophilic disorder, the most typical was the faster movement of their gaze towards the facial and abdominal areas of pedophilic objects during prolonged viewing of these areas with repeated returns of their gaze to the erotic areas of deviant stimuli, as well as longer viewing of the pedophilic object as a whole. These peculiarities point to a higher level of both involuntary and voluntary attention and interest in erotic material containing deviant content in persons with pedophilic disorder, and they represent the diagnostically significant psychophysiological signs of pedophilia.
