The study investigating the relationship between dark triad traits and types of attachment involved 34 patients with a diagnosis of a depressive episode (F32.0, F32.1) and 29 with a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder (F60.3), with an average age of 24. Anxious attachment type was shown to be positively correlated with “psychopathy” (Ro=0.502, p=0.006) and negatively with “narcissism” (Ro= –0.619, p=0.001) in the group of patients with borderline disorder. In the group of patients with depression, there were no significant correlations for the selected study objects. A comparison was made between the two groups in terms of the distribution of the predominant types of attachment and the level of psychological well-being, no significant differences were obtained, which may indicate an overlap in the samples. The data obtained suggest that disturbed attachment types, primarily the anxious one, have a greater impact on patients with borderline personality disorder than on patients with depression.
